Project overview

Working with Oliver Chapman Architects, we recently completed ‘Flitch House’, an extension to a listed Arts and Crafts brick house in Trinity, Edinburgh.

We worked closely with the contractor and architect to develop an exposed timber soffit, using cranked timber flitches to form a roof that wraps around a feature rooflight. To achieve the seemingly simple aesthetic we had to work hard to develop clever hidden fixings, keeping the lines of the roof clean and uninterrupted.

This project won best Low Cost Project at the Scottish Design Awards, featured in Dezeen magazine and has been shortlisted for the Edinburgh Architectural Awards.
