Growing the diversity of the team
Our internal Diversity and Opportunity group are continually looking at ways that we can promote engineering careers generally, and STEM careers generally, to underrepresented groups. We do this through outreach programs in schools, colleges and universities, and attending recruitment fairs. In our hiring practices, we actively encourage applications from minority groups.
Within our team, we’re proud to be performing at or above the industry average in terms of gender and sexual identity:
- Gender – 17% of our engineering and technical team are women, compared to an industry average of 16.5%.
- LGBTQ+ – approximately 12% of our staff are openly LGBTQ+, compared to a reported industry average of 6%.
Work to do
We acknowledge that there is an industry wide underrepresentation of ethnic minorities in engineering in the UK and within the Narro team. Hence, it’s a key focus of the Diversity and Opportunity group, the STEM and Outreach group, and our Recruitment team.
