Millbuies House

Originally a single-storey building formed around a central courtyard, with a combination of timber and masonary walls and timber roof, the key alteration involved infilling the central square courtyard with a ‘pop-up’ clear span roof and clerestory surround. In order to improve circulation and make this the heart of the home, the majority of the courtyard walls were removed. A minimal steel frame was installed to support the existing and new roof areas, with steel trusses within the clerestory glazing zone. Large skylights and a tall glazing feature at one end of the building were installed to increase daylight throughout.
