Home / 18 Park Terrace
The building was heavily fire damaged in 2006, leaving just the listed façade in place and supported by a temporary façade retention system.
Following a review of the proposed open plan apartment layouts and a detailed assessment of robustness requirements, a new internal steel frame was proposed, with suspended JJI timber floors. The existing façade geometry and open plan layout meant that the façade failed under disproportionate collapse rules. As a result, slender RHS columns were located around the perimeter of the building, to support the gravity loads from the frame.
