BSc(Hons), CEng, FICE, FIStructE, Hon FRIAS, FConsE, Conservation Accredited Engineer

Home / David Narro

David is a Chartered Structural and Civil Engineer and was Chairman of Narro, which he started in 1986.

David has been an advisor to the Edinburgh New Town Conservation Committee and Historic Scotland on their publications – and currently serves on their Peer Review Panel. He has also served on the RIAS Conservation Committee and was an external tutor at the University of Edinburgh, Department of Architecture, for over 25 years.

David was a Board Member of the Scottish Registration Board, dealing with applications to become Approved Certifiers from 2005-2014. He was also an auditor under the scheme and an Approved Certifier of Design. He was Chairman of the Scottish Branch of the Institution of Structural Engineers and served on the Council, the Professional Conduct Committee and the Strategy Study Steering Group of the Institution of Structural Engineers in London. David was elected to Council 2006-2009. He is now a Consultant to the Practice, actively involved in projects that suit his specific experience.

David has a personal interest in the structural challenges posed by modern architecture. He has acquired a great deal of expertise in the conservation of historic buildings and has advised clients, government bodies and Architects. The combination of these specific fields has led to extensive experience of modern interventions to old buildings. David is also one of our Conservation Accredited Engineers.
