Ben Adam

He joined Narro from University in 1998. Ben is the project lead engineer for many of our complex projects. He is an expert in the refurbishment and remedial works of existing buildings. This includes temporary works design. Ben promotes the early involvement of engineers in the design process as through his experience this ensures added value and optimum solutions. He is a Fellow of both the Institution of Structural Engineers and Institution of Civil Engineers and is an Approved Certifier of design under the SER Structural Certification scheme. Ben is also one of our Conservation Accredited Engineers. In 2025, he was appointed as an Honorary Fellow of the RIAS.

A passion for learning about the history of existing buildings has helped Ben develop an understanding of conservation engineering best practice and for the refurbishment and re-use of historic buildings. Additionally he has a keen interest in sustainable design and construction methods. This includes research into solid timber construction, off site construction methods and the innovative use of materials such as straw bales and limecrete floors.
