Project overview

We worked with Lee Boyd Architects on improvements to Queen's Cross Church in Aberdeen, an impressive Category A listed Victorian building.

The goal of the project was to improve facilities for both church members and the local community and to overall boost the Church’s community presence in the area. This was achieved by making the building more user friendly, accessible and inviting.

The works comprised external extensions and internal alterations to improve internal circulation. Both of the extensions are made of steel and timber framed construction with high quality stonework, overcladding to columns and slender cantilever steel framed canopies. One of the extensions is close to existing trees and thus the extension foundations incorporate piles to avoid tree roots and the ground floor slab is also suspended to similarly avoid load being applied to the roots.
