Home / Foot O Green

Project overview

A bespoke, single -storey family home in rural Stirlingshire.

Designed by NL Architects, Foot O Green is a bespoke dwelling that harmonises with its scenic surroundings while providing a high-spec, modern living space. The home’s design emphasises simplicity and elegance, with timber and steel construction that meets both functional and aesthetic goals.

The private client envisioned a family residence that would complement its natural surroundings and offer a refined, high-quality finish. NL Architects worked closely with the client to develop a unique structure that reflects both architectural integrity and engineering precision. The project required a thoughtful approach to both design and execution to align with the client’s expectations.

The primary materials for Foot O Green are timber and steel, chosen for their strength, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Timber cladding was used for an organic feel that blends with the rural landscape, while stone accents enhance the home’s rustic charm. Steel was employed for some of the main glazed frames, adding structural support and maximising natural light within the home.

Achieving the desired high-spec finish presented the primary engineering challenge. Narro and the contractor, The Good House Company, worked meticulously to ensure every element met stringent standards for quality and durability. Given the bespoke nature of the design, ensuring material compatibility and precise construction details were essential to realising the architect’s vision.

Foot O Green is an excellent example of custom residential engineering. The collaboration between Narro, NL Architects, and The Good House Company has produced a distinctive family home that meets high standards for both function and aesthetics. Its design and construction illustrate how engineering ingenuity can transform architectural concepts into enduring, beautiful homes.
